CISPA: The One Law We Can't Let Pass

CISPA stands for Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act. In short, if this law passes, it would allow a two-way street for information sharing of internet traffic data between the US government and private technology companies such as Google and Facebook.

The government would have access to all your private information on the internet and would have the right to go through all of your emails, tweets and private messages without even asking you, notifying you or even having to get a warrant. Essentially, the government would become big brother.

The EDM Epidemic: House Music Shouldn't Be All About Finding Molly

Its approximately 6 pm on a Thursday evening as I enter my parents house after a long day at work. As I walk up my stairs I hear the sounds of Drake and Kendrick Lamar bumping. In my head, I'm hoping its coming from my room and that I forgot to turn off my radio. But it's not and it's coming from my youngest sibling's room. She is 16 and rapping the lyrics as if she wrote the song herself. I enter my room and I sit down. I'm listening to her recite each and every word and I begin to think back to the days when I thought it was cool to curse and act ghetto. The door opens and she goes downstairs, she starts joking with my mother and father, then she says a phrase I wasn't ready to hear from someone her age, let alone my own sister.

"Hey mom do you know where I can find Molly?"
Needless to say,my parents are utterly clueless as to what my sister is actually referring to and they laugh it off because they don't know any better. Before you think this another terrible D.A.R.E. campaign or those anti-tobacco commercials, please hear me out. I get that she was merely rapping lyrics to a song that I myself can recite. I get that shes 16 and has a tremendous amount of maturity to attain. But I can't help but feel a certain level of responsibility to scold her and correct this flawed mentality. After all, I am apart of the present EDM craze here in the US. I am a House fanatic who attends these events regularly and is constantly surrounded by the aforementioned Molly.

So how can I not speak up and let her know the true facts around this mentality and lifestyle. That it isn't cool to pop molly or do any other drugs. That people who feel the need to experiment and act like it's no big deal are usually the ones who get themselves in over there head and cant escape. I don't take the drugs simply because I know I would enjoy it too much. Yes that's right, I admit that the drug is most likely awesome but I'd rather stay away from it even if it makes me a pussy. Ultimately I know myself better than anyone and my love for the music is not tied to anything, especially not drugs. I know an abundance of people who only listen to the music and go to the festivals because they want an excuse to take the drugs. This has got to end and it needs to end now.

It all comes down to America's favorite new fad and business model,  using the most popular DJ's and producers in the world to hype each and every event as if it's the largest EDM event ever. Toss in some palm trees, overpriced bottle services, models, smoke machines, lasers, and psychedelic fixtures and you have people spending hundreds and even thousands of dollars attending these events and taking the form of ecstasy that has been deemed safe and pure by the majority. The truth is, it's not all that safe or healthy for you. While the drug may make you smile from ear to ear and dance your face off, it is still a highly potent chemical that affects your body temperature and brain function ultimately.

This leads me to my main point: I am tired of House music and its events being given a bad reputation because most view it as a gathering of drug raving lunatics. Furthermore, I can no longer sit back and allow the youth of society to believe it is acceptable to take these drugs. There is something about the music that allows people to put all their emotions and issues aside and enjoy the pure production of talented artists. But there is and always has been the presence and abuse of narcotics. It's one thing for a 25 year old to make that decision, its entirely different when your talking about kids.

It's not that its acceptable to take it because your above the age of 21 but at least at that point you should be mature enough to make those decisions and understand the consequences. My 16 year old sister doesn't posses that maturity and I don't want useless politicians to start banning House concerts because 14 year olds are getting high on molly.

So this is my plea to everyone and anyone, be a responsible adult and educate the youth on the consequences of making these types of decisions. EDM is a great form of music and people genuinely enjoy
taking part in concerts, festivals, and seeing there favorite artists perform at the most baller clubs. Lets not ruin it by being completely reckless and idiotic.

Knicks’ JR Smith Wins Sixth Man Of The Year

JR Smith has won the Sixth Man of the Year award and it comes as no surprise after his electric play all year. Smith, who arguably creates more buzz off the court then on it, has stepped his game up this year and enjoyed the best year of his career. Most people are talking about a large contract for Smith in the off season and while I agree he has earned, buyer beware.

Smith is one of those guys who gets his shit together when its his contract year. They guy is absolutely hilarious and ridiculously talented. But like so many other athletes he is a complete and total head case. I love the guy, I really do and I'm not a Knicks fan. But he is a huge pain in the ass and if you give him the fat contract he is looking he wont be the same player.

Regardless, keep tweeting JR we all love it.

$18 Million Investment Scam May Have Affected NFL & NBA Players

Several pro athletes have either been contacted or have been asked to contact investigators from the U.S. Department of Justice, the FBI and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

According to the report, the NFL Players Association has asked several players who have investments tied to Jade Management to contact FBI investigators.

Jade had investment ties to Success Trade, which was ordered to stop fundraising last week after allegedly selling $18 million in fraudulent and unregistered promissory notes to 58 people, including some NFL and NBA players.

Yahoo! Sports identified several pro athletes that bought promissory notes from Success Trade, including Detroit Pistons guard Brandon Knight,Cleveland Browns cornerback Joe Haden, San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis, and former Washington Redskins running back Clinton Portis.

UFC Referee Josh Rosenthal Is Going To Jail After Growing $6 Million Of Weed

According to court documents obtained by MMAJunkie, Rosenthal was arrested last year on felony charges after authorities raided an Oakland, California warehouse owned by Rosenthal and an associate and confiscated 1,356 marijuana plants. The street value of the weed was roughly $6 million.

Rosenthal initially pleaded not guilty to the charges in October, but changed his tune in January as part of a plea agreement.

Under terms of the deal, prosecutors are recommending 37 months in jail, fines and five years of probation, during which he would be subject to random searches. Without the plea, Rosenthal faced 10 years to life in prison, a $10 million fine and a minimum of five years probation.

Billionaire Art Dealer Son Gets Busted For Organizing Worldwide Gambling Ring And Working With Russian Mob

The FBI raided Helly Nahmad’s exclusive gallery in New York City’s Carlyle Hotel. Helly is the son of David Nahmad, the most high-profile art dealer and collector in the world. His net worth is said to be somewhere around $3 billion.

Also indicted is infamous Russian crime boss Alimzhan Tokhtakhounov, who rigged the figure skating competition at the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics by bribing officials.

Alimzhan or “Alik” is of the highest possible rank in Russian organized crime. Authorities believe he provided protection and backing for Helly’s gambling rings. The FBI says he received a $10 million payment for his services.

Most of the money transactions in the poker ring, however, was laundered through a car repair shop in Brooklyn, a real estate company, an online used car dealership, some banks in Cyprus and various other bank accounts outside the United States.

Helly has also been accused of selling a $50,000 painting for $300,000 and wire fraud.

Major’ Violations Have Been Committed By The Oregon Football Team: Why No One Should Care

Oregon University has offered to self-impose a two-year probation for the football program and a reduction of one scholarship for each of the next three seasons after agreeing with the NCAA that the University committed multiple infractions from 2008-2011.

It appears the investigation focuses on a $25K payment to Will Lyles for recruiting and scouting services. This of course should come of little to no surprise to most after Chip Kelly left Oregon to coach the Eagles. It has become a recurring theme of big time college head coaches to leave before NCAA sanctions are levied against their university.

My personal opinion of the NCAA is that they are a complete and utter shame. They make billions of dollars and want young athletes to accept nothing more than a scholarship and meal plan. The NCAA constantly bites the hands that feed them and destroy prestigious athletic programs for nothing more than to put on a good front for the public. It sickens me to think that they are able to constantly avoid any type of oversight. These people who run the NCAA are no better than the players, coaches, boosters, and agents who partake in these activities.

I can tell you that if I was in these young men positions I would also accept cash payments, TV's, cars, clothes, tickets to sporting events, and much more. I grew up in a middle class home and was raised the correct way but that doesn't mean I'm going to turn down money that could benefit myself or my family. Most of these players come from lower soci0-economic backgrounds and they are going to take anything you throw at them depending upon what is required of them by accepting it.

I'm tired of innocent college athletes being punished for actions not committed by them. I have had enough of these crooks getting away with destroying well established programs. It has to stop and it is ruining college athletics. Let them take whatever they can get, life is too short to sweat the petty bullshit.  Plus why dont the people who actually commit the infractions ever suffer the penalty  its always years later that infractions are imposed. What good is that? It's a broken system and it needs to be fixed.

Give me a call and I would be happy to fix the whole thing. Right now it's completely fucked.
