Should Clowney Sit out 2013? |
Jadeveon Clowney is the best pro prospect in the country. Only one thing is keeping him from playing in the NFL, he's only a sophomore. The rules state a player must be three years removed from high school prior to being eligible for the draft. You are wondering why I pose the question of should he sit out.
The reason is that Clowney's teammate Marcus Lattimore suffered a serious injury this past season and put his football career in jeopardy.
If you ask a player if he wants to play, he will always say yes. It's who we are, it's in our blood. We want to play, we need to play. Not playing is wrong, it's unfair to your team, to your family, to your coaches, to your fans, and most of all to yourself. But this issue is interesting because Clowney should seriously consider not playing. He could get hurt and never earn a dollar.
I doubt this will happen and I know everyone at South Carolina thinks this debate is insane. But players should be allowed to look out for their own well being.
