Review Of Swedish House Mafia: Brooklyn, Barclay's

The Three Masterminds Didn't Disappoint
Swedish House Mafia concluded 5 straight days of partying and raving last night at the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn. This would be the last time the three of them would play together in NYC. My expectations for the event where high, considering what I was hearing from people about their shows on the 'One Last Tour".  To say the least, they brought their A game and left it all out there.

The set list consisted of some of their classics and also some new tracks I'v never heard before. The mash ups where a relief, each one built you up with soft vocals and then filthy drops that made the crowd energized and wanting more. The night wouldn't have been complete without some of the signature songs and mash ups such as: Teenage Crime, Sweet Disposition, Greyhound, Knas, Antidote, Don't You Worry Child, Save the World, and One. They also added to the mix, Ingrosso's 'Reload' and Angello's 'Light's'. The mash up of One and Quasar was unbelievable. Axwell would not allow the night to end without each and every fan feeling the emotion and passion the three felt for the city.

After all, this is the same city that sold out every one of their concerts from Thursday night through Monday night, 4 months in advance. There is no denying the trio's popularity and success but very few house producers could have achieved that feat. The group wanted to make the night special and they did so by putting on great set but also infusing the crowd with lights, lasers, and a stage presentation that was something I'v never seen before.

There was one sore spot, at least for me anyway. The volume. It was entirely too low for the majority of the show. And while I am aware of the sound codes that were broken during sensation, it was disappointing to not hear the $1 billion dollar Barclay's sound system in full effect. I'm not a fan of stadium venue for these events, everyone needs to be on a flat surface. But Barclay's did impress, it was elegant, modern, and packed with passionate (although very young) fans. I am of the opinion that 21+ events are the best way too go, but I understood the need to allow the younger generation the ability to see these guys perform.

Overall, I loved the show and I enjoyed myself immensely. I felt a sadness as I exited the building. I had seen these three perform in MSG and in Miami for the Masquerade Motel. I had seen all three of them individually in NYC, NJ, and Miami. It hurts to think they wont be together any longer because they stood for something greater than the fame, fortune, and perks of their present celebrity. They loved the music and the fans who supported them in their journey. And they just came to party, that's it. They always wanted to put a show on for their fans and they always did.

I'll miss the group, they were truly a blessing and a gift to be able to go see perform.
