Anquan Boldin Refuses Pay Cut From Ravens
Anquan Boldin is sticking to his statement that he would retire if asked to restructure his contract by the Ravens. He refused the Ravens offer to reduce his 2013 salary by $2 million. He could thus become an unrestricted free agent and decide to retire after claiming he doesn't want to play for any other team.
He in entering the final year of a four year $32 million dollar contract in which his cap number for 2013 would be $7.53 million.
The interesting details to note is that even if he is cut which is most likely what he wants, he will still be able to sign a new deal with Baltimore or any other team for that matter. Boldin is 32 years old and has always been a physical receiver taking the big hits over the middle. So it makes sense that Ravens would like to restructure. If your Boldin you need to get every dollar you can before your time is up and there's no better time than after you win a Superbowl.
I feel like this whole thing is a play by his agent to get max dollars from the team his client wants to play for. He could of course go somewhere else and get his money but he would risk playing for a terrible team and not producing most likely because of a sub par quarterback. Hope he gets his money, he has been one of favorites to watch.
