Pedro Martinez admitted this week that most of the batters he hit were on purpose. He was touching on how he encourages young pitchers to throw inside and brush hitters off the plate. He admitted that approximately 90% of the batters he hit were intentional as way of protecting his own teammates.
No surprise here, Pedro was always know to have great command. Each time he plunked someone, people knew it was on purpose. You will never see a player like Pedro ever again. He was only 5'8 and 190 lbs with sub 2.00 ERA in the 1990's. He was electric and I miss watching him pitch.
