Swedish House Mafia Brings One Last Tour To NYC
Swedish House Mafia has arrived in NYC and are kicking off their 5 days of madness with their black tie event. It will be interesting to see the crowd that shows up for this event and even more interesting to see the demographic that comes out for their shows this weekend.
The Garden will be packed Fri and Sat night with a slew of new comers and house veterans. I myself will be heading to Brooklyn for my first experience of the $1 billion Barclay's Arena to see the three masterminds in full action. This is the last time I will get to see the three play as a group and I have to admit, its a bit depressing. I am not attending Miami Music Week this year (sadly) and this is their last tour. I hope for a legitimate crowd to support them and not just a bunch of fake house fans who think it's 'cool' to go see.
Enjoy the weekend everyone.

Robert Sillerman Purchases Beatport
A New York Times report has been released stating that SFX Entertainment has purchased Beatport for 50 million. This is another expensive addition to CEO Robert Sillerman's EDM arsenal. After making investments into various Miami nightclubs as well as festival hosting companies, Sillerman is establishing himself as the corporate face of house music.
The only impact we as fans will feel is to our wallets. As in we will continue to cough up even more money to attend these events with no end in sight. I knew this would happen and now house will be turned it something for the rich to do, like so many other things. But you will never be able to sustain it because it wasn't built by the wealthy. It was built by passionate music lovers who wanted to listen to something more than all those people talking about Bentley's and gold in their mouth.
Pablo Escobar’s Right-Hand Man Says The War On Drugs Is Impossible To Win
Jhon "Popeye" Velasquez was Pablo Escobar's security chief, he was a ruthless killer who went to great lengths to secure the success of the cartel. Two German journalist recently interviewed Popeye who has been incarcerated for 20 years. Check out the quote below.
“People like me can’t be stopped.” Claims Popeye. “It’s a war. They lose men, and we lose men. They lose their scruples, and we never had any. In the end, you’ll even blow up an aircraft because you believe the Colombian president is on board. I don’t know what you have to do. Maybe sell cocaine in pharmacies. I’ve been in prison for 20 years, but you will never win this war when there is so much money to me made. Never.”
Since declaring the war on drugs in 1971, the drug volume has remained the same. While the cost of fighting this war has gone up over 3,000%. So the moral of this story, stop trying?
“No product on earth has profit margins as large as cocaine or heroin,” says one of the top drug experts in the world, Ethan Nadelmann. “Why? Because of prohibition.”
The Term ‘Friend Zone’ Has Been Added To The Oxford Dictionaries
The Term "Friends Zone" has been added to the Oxford Dictionaries. I guess this should come of no surprise considering how frequently the term is thrown around in day to day conversation.
I hope you are all staying out of this zone.
CEO Of Privateer Holdings To Invest $50 Billion In Marijuana Industry
Got Weed? |
Brendan Kennedy is the CEO of Privateer Holdings and he has his sights set on a new venture. Investing in the Marijuana Business, yes you read that right. Kennedy believes that the industry has a tremendous amount of room for growth and likes that it is essentially a grass roots movement. He is so confident in the investment, he is willing to invest 50 billion. Now that's a lot of ganja.
Look if some billionaire CEO wants to invest in an industry that will probably become legal soon anyway, why not. As I said before I'm not a smoker of anything but weed is so prevalent it might as well be legal. It doesn't mean people should just become pot heads and do nothing with their lives, but plenty of people do that now anyway. There will definitely be an increase in burnouts but it would be a great boast for our economy and we could stop spending money on trying to stop a harmless plant. My only concern is that marijuana is a gateway drug, it really does increase the chance people will do other drugs. So I hope there will be some restrictions with it.

This cake was presented to Floyd Mayweather Jr. for his 36th birthday. Showtime network, who just signed Mayweather to a six fight, 200 million dollar deal, sent him the cake.

1 In 4 Mobile Users Have Dirty Pics And Videos On Their Phone
A survey conducted by AVG, a software security company, set out to determine how many of us keep sexual pictures or videos on our mobile phones or tablet devices.
They surveyed 5,107 smartphone users in the U.K, U.S, France, Germany, and Brazil. It found that 25% of mobile phone and tablet users have intimate photos or videos on their devices. Yet, only 15% admitted to sending or receiving photos or videos of this nature.
We love sex and we love acting out fantasies that we thought would only come true in our dreams or porno's. No surprise here but don't be pissed when everyone this side of the Mississippi has seen your goods.

Bloomberg’s Soda Ban Will Affect Bottle Service At New York Nightclubs
Mayor Bloomberg has instituted a ban on large soda containers in an effort to reduce the consumption of sugary soft drinks and juices. Why is this important you ask? Because it will affect how and what you drink at the club the next you and your crew want to ball out in the city.
Only water and 100% juices will be allowed to be served at the table. Clubs can be fined up too $200 for each violation. More than likely the bottles will replaced with cans and diet soda's are not banned.
It would be pretty hilarious to be in the club and have people trying to sneak soda in flasks or have them paying off bartenders for soda. If Bloomberg really wants to curb obesity he should start removing all the fast food establishments in NYC. That would be a better attempt than this soda ban.
Madeon Becomes First DJ To Ever Perform At New York Stock Exchange
The 18 year old prodigy known as Madeon played a set at the New York Stock Exchange. The event was designed to celebrate the achievements of the 50 most innovative student-run businesses in the world. Needless to say, anyone who performs at the NYSE is forever apart of EDM history. Let alone an 18 year old french producer who looks more like he's 12.
I think its great to see such a serious venue such as this one used for an electronic dance concert. But lets also keep it in perspective, this is more about corporate America putting it's stamp on House music. They know it's a cash cow and they will do anything to exploit it. So let's enjoy the music and the venues and concern ourselves less such petty things as playing at the NYSE.
Release: John Dahlback feat. Agnes – Life (Diamonds in the Dark) (Original + Remixes)
Mr.Dahlback is one of my favorites and although "Life" dates back to almost a year these remixes are of high quality. Of course I wouldn't expect anything less. Listen, enjoy, and feel free to comment.

Lil Wayne Disses NBA & Miami Heat
Lil Wayne has been causing a raucous lately after his comments during All-Star weekend in Houston. Wayne was apparently asked to leave the Heat vs Lakers game in Miami after making a gun gesture towards another fan. He took to twitter to express his anger and frustrations with the heat and began bashing the NBA and the big three.
He claimed that Wade is a female and that he had sex with Chris Bosh's wife, who is also the mother of his child. As if that wasn't enough, he then claims that he is the 'New Pac', as in the new Tupac.
So Lil Wayne has completely lost his mind and he better pray that those three guys don't see him out anytime soon. Check out the video below.
Dwight Freeney Wants To Play In New York
Dwight Freeney is a free agent and he looking for a new team to play for. It seems Freeney has his sights set on one city in particular, New York. Freeney is a native of Connecticut and grew up a Giants fan. But said he was open to playing for the Jets as well. Either team would be suitable for Freeney considering they both need a pass rusher. His better opportunity to win right now is with the Giants, but considering his career accomplishments, the Jets could play a factor.
I for one am not opposed to getting Freeney on the Jets especially if it means keeping him away from the Giants. But the Jets should be cautious about adding a veteran player who will demand a high cap number. The Jets need to get younger, faster, and more athletic on defense. Freeney may be a little too aged to make enough of an impact. The Jets also are going nowhere next year so the likelihood he ends up with them is slim.
Kenyon Martin To Sign With Knicks
Kenyon will join Melo and Amare to form the east coast version of the Nuggets |
Kenyon Martin has agreed to a 10 day contract with the New York Knicks. It seems that with the injuries to Rasheed Wallace and Marcus Camby, the Knicks were in need for a big man. Martin, who has played for the Nets, Nuggets, and Clippers during his career, is joining a familiar cast of players. Martin played with Carmelo, Jr Smith, and Marcus Camby in Denver.
Is this the move that gives the Knicks the edge? Most likely not, the Knicks really need Camby back. They also aren't going to beat Miami in a 7 game series, so it's pointless to even debate that.
Revis & Sherman Engage In Twitter War Over Who Is Best CB
Who do you think is the better corner? |
Simple, it makes for good entertainment. As sports fans, we love this, it gives us something to debate about. Sherman, who will not be regarded as the best until he proves he can maintain his success for more than one year, is not completely wrong. Sherman's numbers over the past two years are to say the least, impressive. But his claim that Revis's total interceptions make him a lesser corner are quite flawed. Opponents don't throw at Revis, he takes away one half of the field. He covers the best receiver each and every game and shuts them down. Sherman's plays on a better defensive team and a better secondary unit. The focus is not solely on him.
I wont talk too much trash on Sherman because he is talented. But taking a shot at a fellow player, who is widely considered the best corner in the league, because he's injured is a low blow. Sherman needs to realize that he will now be focused on by every offensive coordinator in the league. Forget Revis, he plays defense. He has no way of actually playing against Sherman, so it's pointless to make a rivalry out of it. It just goes to show you how competitive professional sports are. A year ago no one would have dared said anything of this manner, but get injured and then see what people start saying.
Revis Island all day people, Sherman will never be in his class. Keep Tweeting chump.

Revel Files For Bankruptcy
Revel has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy after being open for less than a year. The move will allow Revel to remove $1.5 billion dollars in debt, converting $1 billion in equity for it's investors.
The casino has not been performing well and with unemployment over 10% in Atlantic City, it should come of no surprise that Revel is struggling. While it appears the night club is doing well, people are not willing to wager in the casino. Revel will most likely be fine, its 'too big to fail".
Amazon’s Star Engineer James Hamilton Lives On A Boat
James Hamilton is the man behind the scenes of Amazon's tech infrastructure. He is responsible for running the 4.5 billion dollar infrastructure that includes Netflix, Pintrest, and Reddit. He also enjoys a non traditional living environment. James and his wife sold almost of all their personal belongings and moved on to a extravagant yacht. He spends his time there when he isn't required to be in Seattle at Amazon's headquarters.
Hamilton, is as they say, living the dream.
Police Find Testosterone In The Home Of Oscar Pistorius
During the course of their investigation, South African police found testosterone and needles inside the home of Oscar Pistorius. Normally this would have been a big story, a prominent athlete getting caught using performance enhancing drugs. But considering that this particular athlete has been indicated for premeditated murder, I think the testosterone story will take a back seat.
As this investigation continues, this story gets more and more confusing. As well as more intriguing.
The World’s Largest Pot Shop Will Continue To Be In Business
Harborside Health Center is known as the "world's largest pot shop'. It has been the focus of a large degree of scrutiny and criticism since it's inception. The shop will continue to operate even though they were essentially ordered to close their doors and pack their bags.
The shop boast's over 100,000 patients and makes over 20 million dollars a year. They also pay approximately 3 million dollars in taxes as well. And that appears to be more than Facebook, for those of us paying attention to current events.
I don't understand why the government even sweats Medical Marijuana. It really doesn't hurt anyone and people are going to keep smoking weed regardless of the laws you pass. Might as well turn a profit like they do with every other product. Going tanning is worse than smoking weed and this is coming from someone who doesn't smoke and loves to be tan.
In conclusion, the justice department needs to to just relax and realize the financial possibilities.
New Study Shows Cancer Higher In Less Active Individuals
Don't Sit Down...Just Keep Moving |
A recent study done on 60,000 men between the ages of 45-65 years old demonstrates higher chances of chronic diseases in men who sat down more. Those diseases included high blood pressure, diabetes, and cancer.
The study was done by separating how much each spent sitting down. Those who spent the most time where at the highest risk for developing the previously mentioned diseases.
So lets all get active people, we all know we need to keep ourselves in better shape. Stop eating like a disgusting mutant.

Facebook Gets $429 Million Tax Refund After Netting $1.1 Billion In Profits
The Rich Get Richer....Or pay No taxes |
Facebook will receive a $429 million dollar tax return after netting 1.1 Billion in profit in 2012. Tax advocacy groups are beyond furious, claiming that Facebook will end up paying no state or federal income taxes. How was Facebook able to avoid such steep taxation? It has to do with the manner in which stock options are treated in relation to the tax code.
To make matters even more intriguing, Facebook can avoid future tax bills by reserving an additional $2.1 billion in stock-option tax breaks to write off against it's liabilities.
Be pissed people, be very pissed.
